Africa remains the largest supplier of cashew nuts across the world and, Burkina Faso plays a significant role in this process. The product comes from the cashew tree Anacardium occidentale and the resulting cashew nut can be consumed on many ways.

Farmers in Burkina Faso begin sowing at the beginning of July during the rainy season. They are then harvested towards October right after the plants turn yellow. They are harvested and dried for a few weeks. The seeds are then separated.
